WE PURCHASED ABOUT 300 GOLDEN AGE COMICS FROM THEIR ORIGINAL OWNER SEVERAL MONTHS AGO(IDENTIFIED IN OUR SITE AS THE "BENNY K. COLLECTION"). THE COMICS WERE PURCHASED BY BENNY K.IN THE EARLY-LATE 1940S HERE IN SAN DIEGO. THREE IDENTIFIED RETAILERS FROM THE 1940S ARE HUB LIQUOR, ATLANTIC SUNDRIES AND NORTH PARK HOBBY. THE COMICS WERE SUBSEQUENTLY STORED BY THE OWNER FOR THE NEXT 55-60 YEARS. MANY FAWCETTS, DC'S, DAREDEVIL COMICS, AIR-FIGHTERS,DISNEYS AND MORE. THESE ARE UNRESTORED, ORIGINAL OWNER COMICS--MANY IN HIGH-GRADE. MOST HAVE OFF-WHITE TO BONE WHITE PAGES. WE WILL BE UPLOADING THEM TO THE WEBSITE IN THE APPROPRIATE CATEGORIES WITH A "BENNY K. Welcome to San Diego's largest retail selection of Gold and Silver age comic books. We offer comic books for sale from the 1930's to the present, but Gold and Silver Age are our favorites.

Gino and I have been buying and selling comic books since the mid-1970's. We opened our store in a warehouse in San Diego in 1997. We offer a wide selection of comic books, comic book supplies, trade paperbacks, graphic novels,MANGA and comic magazines to the general public. Walk in or shop on-line. We are not the biggest in the country. Nor, do we inundate the market with boastful claims of our sales excesses. We only promise good customer service and a great selection of comic books.

The following pages contain an ever changing list of Golden Age, Silver Age and Modern Age books for sale. We are constantly adding new purchases to this site, for sale to the public. If you don't see what you are looking for, please ask or send us a want list. We carry an ever-increasing selection of comic books and comic book trade paperbacks. We carry new comics at our store and offer a "subscription service"(10% discount) for regular customers(walk-in or mail order).

BUYING COMICS We are always buying comics to replenish our stock. We will consider most anything. But, we reserve the right to see the items before we consider making an offer. We will travel to your location if it is within a reasonable distance from San Diego. We will consider longer journeys to view more exotic collections. We do make purchases through the mail. In regards to mail deals, we generally restrict the selections we are interested in to comics that are older than the mid-1970s. Please, do not mail us your comics unless we have had contact with each other in advance.

If you wish to offer us books and you reside out of town we will accept your comics through the mail. Once received, we will grade the comics and make you an offer, with terms we will discuss with you before the viewing. We will not buy comics sight unseen. Feel confident that we will grade and value your comics reliably.

HOW TO ORDER FROM US We accept e-mail orders, phone orders and want lists through the U.S. mail. Select the comics you desire from our site and contact us. We will determine which comics are in stock and their final cost after any applicable discounts. Unless otherwise desired, we ship all orders via he U.S.Post Office. Foreign orders are shipped through our Post Office, as well. Shipping for all orders will include a small handling charge. If you decide to mail us a want list, please include alternate comic wants. We accept cash, money orders, personal checks, Visa/Mastercard, American Express, Discover and PayPal. Our PayPal account is: socalcom@aol.com. Foreign orders: Money Orders or PayPal(in some cases), only! Checks may be held in our bank for up to 10 days to clear before the order will be mailed. All our orders are shipped in sturdy boxes, packaged to minimize damage during shipping.

Please, minimum orders of $20.00! We make little profit on small sales if payment is made by credit card. Credit card processing fees limit our minimum to $20.00.

DISCOUNTS

We are negotiable on many of our comics. There are some comics we will not discount and that matter is subject to our discretion. You have only to ask us about items you are interested in.
COMIC BOOK APPRAISAL. With increased activity on eBay we have encountered buyers that are frequently unhappy with the quality of their comic book purchases. Inconsistent or inaccurate grading plagues the values on many of these purchases frustrating the buyers. Often, the seller is contentious or resistant to refunds on misidentified sale items leaving the buyer challenged for compensation. We offer a solution.

EBay and PayPal will mediate and offer protection for buyers and sellers. Protection in the form of pressure on the parties to adhere to proper business rules. Protection in the form of limited compensation. To accomplish this eBay and PayPal require third-party services to establish parameters that can form the basis for mediation and compensation. We offer that third-party service. For a $25.00 fee we will create a written appraisal based upon facts presented. This is an opportunity for buyers to protect themselves against unethical sellers. INSTALLMENT PAYMENTS. We do put comics on layaway. We prefer the payments not stretch out beyond three months. The initial down payment is generally 1/3 of the retail cost of the book with the balance to be paid at the end of three months. Some exceptions can be made for time extensions.

The down payment is nonrefundable.

TERMS

All comic books are strictly graded and priced accordingly using the Overstreet Price Guide for reference. Forms of payment include money orders, Visa and MasterCard. Personal checks will be accepted but book delivery will only be made when the checks clear. Full refund will be made if the buyer is unhappy with the quality of the comic books or if the content was incorrect. Refunds requested for reasons other than those we provided will only be considered on a case-by-case basis. We will buy the books back in some cases at a substantially reduced price. The refund must be requested via e-mail or phone within seven days after book(s) are received. CGC-graded comic books are non-refundable. All sales for those books are final. We accept down payments and time payments. Payments made on a time basis are non-refundable after the first 30 days (unless the book is returned based upon buyer dissatisfcation).We prefer payments to be spread out ove a period no greater than 3 months. California residents include sales tax on all purchases.

Please: Be absolutely certain you understand the current grading system as recognized by most dealers/collectors worldwide. We use the Overstreet grading system and adhere to those standards. If you have questions about the grade of a book you desire, or, wish to have us send you a careful description- we will do so upon request. Returns and refunds are a nuisance to both parties and we strive to minimize them.

Common grading terms are used throughout our Website. These terms include all the abbreviations recognized in today's industry. One term that may not be obvious is: (R). This term represents a restored book. As with restored books, buyers will want as much information about a comic book as we can furnish. Simply request more information on any of our books and we will be more than happy to provide it. We will e-mail scans to interested parties. Or, we will send scans via U.S.Mail.

We have no set policy on purchases. We buy books at prices that guarantee a profit after resale. We will travel within a reasonable distance of Southern California to view interesting collections.

Shipping/mailing:We use the least expensive form of US Post Office mail for comic purchases below $50.00. If you prefer to receive your purchase quickly, advise us and we will add the additional charge for Priority Mail. Insurance and/or Delivery Confirmation must also be requested.

We will ship our stock to any international destination. The cost of shipping is up to the buyer, unless the shape or size of the purchase dictates a particular shipping cost. We are fully aware of the import costs and tariffs that most countries attach to imports at their Customs Departments. Please notify us how you would like the package to be listed on Customs Declaration forms.
